Apex Legends : How To Get Apex Coins, Legends Tokens & Crafting Materials

Apex Legends : How To Get Apex Coins, Legends Tokens & Crafting Materials – With Apex Legends’ current popularity, it has the potential to dethrone Fortnite. Much like Fortnite or other free-to-play mass shooters, it has a plethora of in-game currencies. These forms of legal tender can be used to craft and unlock aesthetic and cosmetic items. The best thing about them is they’re not necessarily a compulsory part of the game. They won’t enhance or change gameplay. So players who can’t afford these microtransactions won’t be unfairly impacted by not having them.

However, they do help you give your Legend its own unique identity. We all like to be a little different, special and unique. Crafting, finding and buying with Apex Legends’ in-game currencies can help set you apart from all the other millions of players who partake in Apex Legends. In this guide, we hope to expound on what they are and how you can get them.

What are these IN-Game Currencies

The game has three different in-game currencies: Crafting Metals, Legend Tokens and Apex coins. What are they and what’s the difference? Keep reading to find out.

1. Crafting Metals

crafting metal - apex legends

Crafting metals can be found by opening Apex Packs. Apex Packs are basically Apex Legends loot boxes. They give you a random chance at getting common, rare, epic or legendary gear for any character in the game. Basically, you earn them by levelling up. You get one for the majority of the new player levels you obtain. And you level up in Apex Legends by earning XP. You can earn a grand total of 45 Apex Packs over the course of player levels: 1-100.

Crafting metals help you unlock cosmetic items. You can basically purchase skins using them. Each level or tier of skin costs the same amount of Crafting Metals.

Well, it should go without saying that this currency is free – for the most part. You can get it by simply just playing the game and earn your way to some very cool Apex Legend gear but you can also purchase Apex Packs with Apex Coins from real world money. This will get you more Crafting Metals in less time.

2. Legend Tokens

You can almost count Legend Tokens as Apex Legends’ main proprietary currency. They’re completely free and can’t be purchased with conventional real-world currency (only sweat and hard work). You get them each time you partake in a match and level up. The more you play and win, the more Legend Tokens you’ll have.

You can use Legend Tokens to unlock characters as well as store exclusive cosmetics. There’s a variety of cosmetics that can only be purchased using Legend Tokens when they are available in the game’s store. You earn six hundred legend tokens every time you level up. The quicker you level up, the more Legend Tokens you’ll get.

3. Apex Coins

Apex Coins (AC for short) are Apex Legend’s real-money micro-transaction currency. ACs are basically converted real-world currency. You can get 1000 AC for $9.99. The more AC you buy, the greater the amount of bonus AC you get. You can use Apex Coins to purchase Apex Packs (which cost 100 AC per pack and are effectively cosmetic loot boxes).

Apex Coins can be used to purchase Apex Pack which cost 100 AC per pack. Most Apex Packs contain Crafting Metals. So if you invariably purchase Apex packs, this is an indirect way of converting AC in Crafting Metals.

You can also use Apex Coins to buy specific loot items as well as characters (that you would have otherwise bought through Legendary Tokens).

How To Get Crafting Metals in Apex Legends

As we’ve stated before, the only real way to get Crafting Metals is by getting and opening Apex Packs. Apex Packs can be obtained by levelling up or purchasing them with Apex Coins. This is the only way you can acquire this in-game currency.

What can you buy with Crafting Metals?

Crafting metal can be exclusively used to purchase cosmetic items and nothing else. These items can be used to craft Weapon Skins, Legend Skins, Banner Frames and Poses, Intro & Kill Quips, as well as Finishers. How To Get Legend Tokens In Apex Legends

Similarly to Crafting Metals, there’s only one real way of earning Legend Tokens. You can only acquire them by levelling up. It’s quite easy to level up early in the game. Levelling up requires XP and the best way to earn XP is by engaging in more matches and games.

There are a variety of ways to earn XP and level up in Apex legends such as killing enemies or reviving teammates. Getting kills in Apex Legends can be an unreliable source of XP because your performance can vary from match to match. Just like in real life, you should diversify your portfolio.

You need to play smart and strategize. To make things simpler for you, we’ve listed all the way you can earn XP in Apex Legends and how much total XP is awarded for each way.

  • Time Survived (approximately 180 XP per minute survived)
  • Kills (50 XP per kill)
  • Damage Done (XP awarded equivalent to Damage Done divided by 4)
  • Revive Ally (25 XP per ally revived)
  • Respawn Ally (25 XP per ally respawned)
  • Killed Champion (500 XP bonus)
  • Killed Leader (50 XP bonus)
  • Playing With Friends (5% XP bonus to Time Survived)
  • Finish in the Top 3 (300 XP bonus)
  • Match Victory (500 XP bonus)

With all of this in mind, a really great way of earning XP fast is by playing in a party with friends as you’re granted a +5% bonus to Survival Time XP. Not only does Time Survived reward you a solid amount of XP on its own but playing with friends can be very conducive to survival because you can strategize better in a group and you have people you can revive and people who can revive you.

As stated before, reviving and respawning your allies rewards a fair amount of XP. Another great way to earn XP is by hunting down the Champion. This awards you a whopping 500 XP. The only other way of getting this amount of XP is by actually winning the match.

Once again, you’ll want to focus on all the different ways you can maximize your XP with each match. From dealing damage to killing enemies to surviving as long as possible.

What can you buy with Legend Tokens?

We recommend that you save up your Legend Tokens to purchase locked Legends. When you start the game, you have six out of the eight characters that are available. You can use your Legend Tokens to purchase the two characters (Caustic and Mirage) that are locked. This is the most pragmatic use of your Legend Tokens. Each character costs 12,000 Legend Tokens. This is a combined cost of 24, 000 Legend Tokens. You earn 600 hundred Legend Tokens every time you level up, so it essentially takes 20 levels to earn an Apex Legend.

Alternatively, you can also purchase skins you can purchase special skins and cosmetics. If you own a particular skin after purchasing it, you will be able to unlock an alternative colour or shading of that skin for Legend Tokens.

How to Get More Apex Coins In Apex Legends

As stated previously, Apex Coins are Apex Legends main paid for currency. The only real way of earning Apex Coins is through purchasing them. Other players can also gift you coins. There are stories on the internet where Reddit users found themselves gifted with exorbitant amounts of Apex Coins. So you can also hope to encounter a bug that will leave you rich with Apex Coins.

There are also online markets where you can exchange coins or items for coins. But you have to be very wary and careful when visiting these sites. You need to be careful of any site that promises to generate free Apex Coins. At the moment, it’s not possible. So don’t give your information to any site that promises to generate Apex Coins for you.

So the only way you can get them is through getting them as gifts or purchasing them. The more you purchase, the more bonus Apex coins you get. If you can help it, try to refrain from purchasing 1000 at a time. Here’s a breakdown of the bundles you can get for Apex Coins.

  • 1,000 Apex Coins: $9.99 USD (0 Bonus)
  • 2,150 Apex Coins: $19.99 USD (150 Coins Bonus)
  • 4,350 Apex Coins: $39.99 USD (350 Coins Bonus)
  • 6,700 Apex Coins: $59.99 USD (700 Coins Bonus)
  • 11,500 Apex Coins: $99.99 USD (1500 Coins Bonus)

What can you buy with Apex Coins?

Apex Coins are generally used to purchase Apex Packs. Instead of levelling up to get an Apex Pack, you can simply use your Apex Coins to purchase them. Besides Crafting Metals, Apex Packs give you three different cosmetics from the huge pool of options.

For instance, players have been looking for Wraith’s Heirloom. You can’t craft Heirloom items and Wraith is the only Legend with Heirloom items. The only way you can even hope to obtain an Heirloom item is by opening Apex Pack. It’s a pretty rare though. You are guaranteed to get an Heirloom drop within your first 500 packs.

  • 1 Apex Pack: 100 Apex Coins
  • 10 Apex Packs: 1,000 Apex Coins

Apex Coins can also be used to purchase skins that show up in store. These aren’t exclusive store skins though. You can craft them with Crafting Metals. So you have to be frugal about the way you spend your Apex Coins. You have to remember that you’re spending real world money that you’ve actually worked for.

Legends can also be bought using Apex Coins. Each Legend costs 750 coins. Purchasing a Legend this way is a great alternative to grinding and then using your Legend Tokens to purchase them.

BONUS: The Founder’s Pack

The Apex Legends Founder’s Pack is designed to help players find their bearings as quickly as possible. It also offers exclusive content for those who are willing to put some money into the game. Apex Legends is a free-to-play game but it has to find a way to keep the lights on. The pack costs $29.99 and includes a slew of items:

  • 2,000 Apex Coins
  • exclusive Legendary Demon Hemlok weapon skin
  • three exclusive Roughneck character skins (for Wraith, Bloodhound, and Gibraltar)
  • three exclusive banner frames (for Wraith, Bloodhound, and Gibraltar)
  • one exclusive founder’s badge

The Apex coins in the Founder’s pack are actually worth $20, while the skins and banners can’t really be valued since they’re exclusive to players who buy the Founder’s pack. This isn’t a bad deal, especially for players who take pride in their character’s aesthetics.

Final Word

It’s important to remember to spend your time and money responsibly while you play Apex Legends. Game addiction is a real thing. Other than that. Remember to have fun. Respawn have a ten-year plan for Apex Legends so it’s sure to gain more content and popularity which means good things for early adopters of the game.

Respawn also announced that a Battle Pass will hit gamer’s shores come March 2019. We hope that you’ve found this guide to be helpful and useful.
