Apex Legends Abilities: Classes And Abilities Explained

There is something about Apex Legends that is very reminiscent of run and gun shooters like Metal Slug and Contra. It permeates from its aesthetic and character designs. Not to mention the fast shoot em up gameplay and color pallets. Much like Metal Slug, Apex Legends allows you to select your character. What Apex Legends has that these old school shooters didn’t is customizability and each character comes with a unique set of abilities and characteristics. While the character choices in games like the original Metal Slug were largely superficial, who you choose in Apex Legends influences how you’ll experience and play the game.

Since its release in early February of 2019, Apex Legends has experienced an insane amount of popularity in a very short time. Its detractors and critics thought that its popularity was a passing fad and it would soon dip. It seems as if they were wrong. At least wrong enough for Respawn (Apex Legends’ developer) to announce that they have a ten-year plan for it.

Besides its fast-paced gameplay, one of the reasons for its popularity is the diversity of the characters you can currently choose. You currently have eight characters in the game (expect more in the future) to choose from. Two of them are locked but can be unlocked using one of Apex Legend’s in-game currencies.

We recently spoke in-depth about each character but if you found that article bloated and far too long for your attention span, we decided to release a condensed version with each characters abilities as well as their ratings in terms of team utility and combat.

Essential Apex Legends Coverage

Remember, all eight legends come with three abilities, one passive, one tactical and an ultimate one. Passive skills are always in effect and do not need to be explicitly triggered to work. Tactical skills can be called upon by the player to help gain a foothold in a gunfight. Ultimate abilities are not dissimilar from what you get from games like DOTA and Overwatch. You charge up your ultimate skill to unleash a devastatingly powerful ability which can give your teammates a significant advantage in a scuffle.

We’ve basically listed every available Legend in Apex Legends as well as their abilities below. Please note that this is a living breathing list. As more Legends are introduced, expect a new list or alterations to be made to this one.

Final Word

There you have it. Run through this list if you have not yet decided which character you want to play as. Remember that choosing a character is only half the battle. If you want to win, you need synergistic understanding between your character and your teammates. Remember that each and every character on this list is aesthetically customizable. So it’s important to choose function over form because you can change your Legend’s appearance but unfortunately, you cannot change their abilities.
